The Horseshoe Bend Project is focused on complimenting and enhancing the natural beauty of the landscape and the environment in a manner that will preserve and honor the Navajo culture, while respecting the sanctity of the land and provide the much-needed economic development and employment opportunities for the LeChee Chapter and the Navajo Nation. Horseshoe Bend's goal is to be the first Tribal decarbonized development with smart and sustainable features.
With the Closures of the Kayenta Mine and the Navajo Generating Station (NGS) , the total annual estimated losses are estimated at $51 million from direct expenditures and induced direct economic activity within the City of Page and LeChee Chapter. Additionally, 265 NGS employees living in the City of Page and LeChee lost their jobs, while an additional 145 jobs from the added value activity of NGS were also lost.
